We’re well into the festive season right now and many Southampton residents are probably thinking about how they can look their best for the numerous social events they will be attending. Whilst many might choose from our range of cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening, to brighten up their smile, they may not have realised that their cosmetic dentist in Southampton also offers facial aesthetics treatments.

How facial aesthetic treatments make you look younger

cosmetic dentist in SouthamptonIf you’re looking to defy the signs of natural ageing or want to remove lines or wrinkles caused by too much time spent in the sun, then we can help. We use two key treatments, Botox and Dermal Fillers, which can smooth out wrinkles, plump thinning lip lines and boost facial volume loss too.

How does it work?

  • Botox – probably the most well known of these cosmetic treatments and once a treatment that was reserved for celebrities, is now an affordable treatment which is offered by many Southampton dentists alongside restorative dental treatments.

Botox is injected into target areas of the skin using very fine needles and works by blocking the nerve impulses which trigger contractions of the facial muscles that result in wrinkles and lines appearing. Typically a patient would start to see a slight reduction in their wrinkles within 2 to 3 days but it can take up to 10 days to see the full effect of the treatment.

  • Dermal Fillers – As a person ages their skin starts to lose collagen and this can result in sagging cheeks, thinning lips, and facial lines. Dermal fillers replace the collagen and similar to Botox fillers are injected into the skin using a fine needle. This shouldn’t be a very painful experience and normally no anaesthetic is required, making for a quick process which can usually be carried out in as little as half an hour.

Both treatments can last for up to a year, depending on the individual, and it’s perfectly safe to repeat the process as and when required.
