As with most cosmetic dentistry methods, treatment time depends on the complexity of your case, the type of braces you choose, and how well you follow your orthodontist’s advice. On average, braces are worn for 12 to 24 months, though some minor corrections may take less time. We’ll give you a personalised timeline during your initial consultation so you know exactly what to expect.
Getting braces fitted is not painful, but you may experience some tightness or mild discomfort from the wires or brackets for a few days after your braces are fitted or adjusted. This is completely normal and shows that your teeth are gradually moving into their new positions. Over-the-counter pain relief and orthodontic wax can help ease any temporary soreness.
Your first visit is all about getting to know you and your smile goals. We’ll examine your teeth, take X-rays or digital scans, and discuss the best treatment options for your needs. You’ll leave with a personalised plan, treatment timeline, and clear pricing so you can make an informed decision – no pressure, just friendly, professional advice.
“We joined Smilemakers when the Practice opened in Southampton. We have both had major treatment, which included crowns, bridges, veneers and tooth whitening.
Before this treatment we were both conscious that our teeth were not attractive and more than showed our age. In spite of lengthy sessions of treatment we were both put at ease and had complete confidence in the work being carried out.
At all times Smilemakers made our comfort and wellbeing paramount and great care was taken to make the treatment as pain free as possible. We are both very pleased with our teeth and Smilemakers has now given us the confidence to smile more openly.
We have always been pleased with the service we have received from Smilemakers and have always been dealt with promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner. We definitely would, without hesitation, recommend Smilemakers to family and friends.”
We’re open Monday-Friday, and Saturdays by appointment only
